St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church is located in rural Vermont, in a small but extremely active college town. Middlebury is surrounded by the natural beauty of this state: Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains, the rolling dairy country of Addison County, maple forests and flowing mountain streams. Visitors arrive for fall foliage season, skiing in the winter, and outdoor activities in spring and summer, enjoying the beautiful scenery all year round.

Driving Directions

From Burlington International Airport (BTV): Coming out of the airport turn left on Airport Road. At the stop light, cross the intersection onto Kennedy Drive. At the second light enter Rt. 189, (West to Rt. 7). At intersection of Rt. 7 turn left and continue south to Middlebury (30 miles). St. Stephen’s is located on your left as you turn onto Main Street.

From New York I-87 (Northway): North to Exit 20. Go east on Rte. 149 (Glens Falls area) to Rte. 4 (Whitehall, NY) to Vermont. At Exit 4 (Castleton, VT) take Rte. 30 North to Middlebury (about 26 miles). Follow this road until it turns into Main Street after the roundabout. St. Stephen’s is located on your right after Merchant Row.

From Rutland, VT: Go north on Rte. 7 to Middlebury (about 28 miles) to Courthouse Square. St. Stephen’s can be accessed by turning off Rte. 7 onto Main Street to the left.

From Connecticut / Central Massachusetts: I-91 North to Springfield/Ludlow VT Exit. Then take Rte. 103 to Rte. 7 toward Rutland. Follow directions from Rutland, VT.

From Eastern Massachusetts: Take I-93 North to I-89 North into Vermont. Take Exit 1 (Rte. 4 West toward Quechee, VT) to Rte. 7 North, and follow directions from Rutland, VT. Alternatively, stay on I-89 to Exit 3 (Rte. 107 West toward North Bethel, VT) to 100 North, and then Rte. 125 West to East Middlebury, over the Green Mountains. Turn right on Rte. 7 to Middlebury to Courthouse Square. St. Stephen’s can be accessed by turning off Rte. 7 onto Main Street to the left.

From Maine: I-95 South to Exeter, NH. Take Rte. 101 West to Concord, NH. Follow directions from Eastern Massachusetts.
