Giving Through Outreach

Outreach plays a big role in the life of this parish. Locally, both the Community Lunch and the Community Dinner programs are often served by volunteers who also buy the food and prepare the meals. The Charter House continually seeks volunteers not only to help run these shelter services, but also to provide clean linen, bathroom and cleaning supplies, and the like.

Our international outreach is equally robust. St. Stephen's encourages and supports individual mission trips, like John Hammer in Hands to Honduras -Tela, which provides in-country assistance for varying projects from property development to health issues. Likewise, we support David White and Iambi Hospital and Hospice in Tanzania in distributing essential medical supplies and equipment. In both cases, any designated funding goes toward necessary material as well as to help defray the cost of travel. In 2008, a mission group of St. Stephen's parishioners made their way to Honduras for construction and other assistance. Its success would not have been possible without the devoted effort and resources generously given by many at St. Stephen's.

Whether here or abroad, we also support Episcopal Relief and Development, which strives to relieve human suffering in its many forms, from hunger, poverty, disease and disaster.

To see how you might contribute to our local or international outreach efforts from supplies to planning and financial contributions, please contact Sharon Tierra (local), John Hammer (H2H-T), David White (Iambi Hospital), or Alice Van Tuyl (Episcopal Relief and Development).
