An early Easter and below freezing temperatures limited some of our Holy Week ceremonies this year: our Palm Sunday procession was entirely within the church, and sadly not the ecumenical celebration we had planned. Maundy Thursday was followed by an all night watch by parishioners. Our town's Christian community did gather for the traditional noontime Good Friday service in cold but sunny conditions, followed by Stations of the Cross that evening. Saturday night's Great Vigil began in the narthex with the lighting of the Paschal fire; the next day our children dug through the snow to find their Easter eggs. View Album

In February of 2008, eight parishioners participated in a mission trip to Honduras. They were presented with mission crosses on the Sunday before they left: the next Sunday they were participating in a parish Eucharist in Tegucigalpa. During the week they worked on projects from road mending and sewing to building a chicken coop at a residence for around fifty abandoned and abused children run by the Latin American Missionary and Bible Institute. They also visited a school and nursery run by LAMB. View Album

Peasant Market is a fixture in the parish and town calendar: in July of every year Saint Stephen's community stages its largest fundraiser in support of local and international outreach. Held on the village green surrounding the church, stalls offer everything from baked goods to antiques. Our youth conduct 'Midway' for children, lunch and refreshments are available, and silent and live auctions attract lively interest. View Album
