About Our Congregation

Parishioners drive as much as 30 miles to be part of a parish community that has a deeply spiritual life, a commitment to community and an active social justice mission.  Our congregants come from diverse backgrounds. Farmers and faculty, physicians and poets, carpenters, caretakers, bakers and boat builders and many other vocations can be found in our congregation.

What We Believe:

As a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont, we follow traditional liturgies in our worship services while affirming that everyone embraces their own individual beliefs.

Welcome to St. Stephen’s Church is not contingent on particular beliefs.  Each of us is accepted as we are.

Our tradition is Christian, with the Bible at the center of our understanding of God.

We believe God is revealed to us in three manifestations--Creator, Redeemer, and Spirit.

We believe all people are made in the image of God. We believe God calls us to discipleship, to the work of justice, to loving each other as God loves us.

We believe in community - worshiping together, reaching out together, enjoying fellowship together.

We believe in doing unto others as we would have them do unto us.

We believe that we enrich each other with our differences and thank God for them.

St. Stephen’s is inclusive:

we welcome everyone
